چکیده

Background Evaluation of serological assays for hepatitis C (HCV) antibody screening is crucial ,as supplemental testing [Nucleic Acid Testing & Recombinant Immunoblot Assay (RIBA)] to verify anti-HCV reactive results is not widely practiced, due to limited availability and high cost. The current study was undertaken from January to May 2011, to evaluate 4 serological assays for HCV diagnosis, viz-a-viz HCV RNA PCR and RIBA.

Comparative evaluation of a triplex nucleic acid test for detection of HBV DNA, HCV RNA, and HIV-1 RNA, with the Procleix Tigris System.

Nucleic acid testing (NAT) is valuable for screening blood donors for occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and infection during the window period in countries where HBV is endemic, such as China. An "in-house" NAT (Triplex NAT) was developed for screening for HBV DNA, hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA, and the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) RNA. Using the Triplex NAT, a head-to-head ...

Diagnosis of hepatitis C.

Currently, the second- and third-generation enzyme immunoassays (EIA-2 and EIA-3) for hepatitis C virus antibody (anti-HCV) are the most practical screening tests for the diagnosis of HCV infection. The need for and the choice of supplementary or confirmatory tests depend on the clinical setting and the likelihood of a true-positive EIA result. Detection of HCV RNA in serum by polymerase chain ...

Evaluation of three rapid screening assays for detection of antibodies to hepatitis C virus.

BACKGROUND The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 3.2 million Americans are living with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and 50%-70% are unaware of their status. Although therapies are available that can suppress or eliminate infection, identifying persons infected with HCV is challenging. Rapid tests could help identify many of these persons more expeditio...

Comparative results in detection of HCV antibodies by using a rapid HCV test, ELISA and immunoblot.

Viral hepatitis C is a major problem of post-transfusion hepatitis. The best measure for preventing hepatitis C infection in transfusion is blood donor screening. There are many methods for detecting hepatitis C virus antibodies. ELISA is one of the sensitive screening methods. However it needs equipment, technical skills and it is time consuming. The Genelabs Diagnostics HCV-SPOT is a simple, ...
